ZEISS breaks ground on new facility
ZEISS, a
manufacturer of metrology solutions
and technology in the field of optics
and optoelectronics, has broken
ground on construction of a new
facility outside of Detroit.
Built for the Industrial Quality and
Research (IQR) segment of ZEISS —
Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology LLC in
the U.S. — the facility will consolidate
four buildings in Michigan into one location.
It will span over 82,800 sq ft and
contain a customer demonstration area
offering training, support, and metrology
services, while also containing fixture
system production and assembly.
Almost 170 employees will provide
a range of dimensional metrology,
inspection equipment, and services for
industries including medical, automotive,
aerospace, and machine tooling.
The center will also offer aftermarket
sales support and software help desk
services.
“We are investing over $45 million in
the Detroit metro region to strengthen
and increase our engagement in this
global automotive and smart factory
hot spot,” said Jochen Peter, member
of the executive board of the ZEISS
Group and head of the industrial
quality and research segment.
