Source Photonics Implements 100-G R&D
Optical communication technology provider Source Photonics Inc. has implemented early R&D efforts and investments in the operational infrastructure of 100-G single-mode devices with a small form factor and long reach.
This push is a result of the rapid deployment in 2017 of small-form-factor 100-G modules in the data center and telecommunications application space. The migration from 10-G and 40-G to 100-G data rates is expected to accelerate considerably until 2020, with an estimated >15 million 100-G ports expected to be deployed. Source Photonics has expanded its 100-G QSFP28 Transceiver Portfolio as a result.
After sampling the first-generation of 100GBASE-LR4 in QSFP28 form factor in 2014, Source Photonics began full-scale production in 2015. The company provides optical communication solutions, components, and subsystems for communications and data connectivity.
