Sener Names Sierra U.S. CEO
Sener, a private engineering and technology group, has appointed Mercedes Sierra as its CEO in the U.S.
Sierra takes the place of Angel Ares as he leaves to the lead the development of the company’s infrastructure design and build business for the rail and transit sector.
Sierra joined Sener in 1985, growing within the organization and functioning in many management roles such as leading international and multidisciplinary aerospace contracts. In 2005, Spain’s Ministry of Economy appointed her the director of aeronautics and space for technology and innovation, where she served on a number of international oversight organizations and committees. Finishing her duties in July 2009, Sierra rejoined Sener in its San Francisco offices, where she led the introduction of concentrated solar business in the U.S. In 2012, she was appointed head of innovation at Sener. She will now lead business at Sener’s headquarters in Los Angeles.
Sierra received her master’s degree in structural engineering from the University of Cantabria in Spain and also holds a master’s degree from the University of Navarra’s IESE Business School.
Sener provides technology and engineering for infrastructure and transportation projects.
