Chipmaker Buys TAOS
Analog integrated circuit supplier !%austriamicrosystems AG%! of Unterpremstaetten, Austria, announced in June an agreement with !%14810%%Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions (TAOS) Inc.%! to acquire 100 percent of the shares in the Plano, Texas-based company. TAOS is a worldwide supplier of sensors that detect proximity, color and ambient light and that are designed for the consumer electronics, computer, industrial, medical and automotive markets. Consideration for the shares to be acquired totals approximately $320 million. Subject to regulatory approvals and specific conditions defined in the agreements, the transaction was expected to close within eight weeks of the announcement.
