Photonics to shine in China

Photonic technologies will take the spotlight when the sixth annual Laser World of Photonics
China exhibition takes place on March 15-17, 2011, at Shanghai New International
Expo Centre.
Since its founding in 2006, the show – which is the Chinese
version of Laser World of Photonics in Germany – has striven to showcase the
full range of innovative laser and photonic products, new solutions and technologies
reflecting international trends. Its exhibition space has expanded, and its audience
participation has doubled. The three-day show in 2010 attracted more than 275 exhibitors
from 17 countries and districts as well as 25,243 professional visitors from 57
countries and districts. The show’s organizers say that these record numbers
demonstrate that the event is now on track to become not only the leading laser
and photonics show in China but in the whole of Asia.
At the 2011 exhibition, six areas will present the whole industry:
lasers and laser systems for production engineering; optical communications; optics
and optics manufacturing; lasers and optronics; sensors, test and measurement; and
accessories and service. This year, the exhibition space is expected to expand by
50 percent. Trumpf, Rofin, Coherent, Han’s Laser, Intelume, Beamtech, JDSU,
Leoni, Physik Instrumente, IPG, Panasonic, Chutian and Huagong, among other companies,
have already planned to participate.
The show will focus on traditionally strong sectors such as lasers
and laser systems for production engineering, and lasers and optronics as well as
special sectors such as optical information and communications technology, optical
processing and optics manufacturing. A special pavilion on optical information and
communications technology will be launched in cooperation with China Posts and Telecommunications
Appliances Corp.
The technical conference is organized by Messe München International
in conjunction with research institutes, industry associations and media partners
from China and other countries. Two professional conferences will be presented:
the sixth International Conference on Laser Processes and Components, which is co-organized
with the Laser Institute of America and the Chinese Optical Society-Laser Processing
Committee, and Optics Frontier, a laser technology forum and Outstanding Achievements
Conference of Chinese Optics 2010, featuring a series of lectures on the most important
growth sectors in the Chinese market for optical technologies.
Laser World of Photonics China is held in conjunction with Electronica
& Productronica China. More information on the show and the conference is available
