Spot Curing
IRphotonics of Hamden, Conn., an infrared-based
materials and systems manufacturer, announced that its iCure spot curing system
has completed qualification and production acceptance with an undisclosed US medical
device manufacturer. After six months of evaluation on a project, the manufacturer
has purchased an undisclosed number of the iCure units to bond microelectronic components
on a disposable medical device. The device is suitable for spot curing of thermal
epoxies, for bonding and fixing plastic and glass components, for precision assembly
and bonding of semiconductor components, and for localized heat welding of thermoplastics.
