PerkinElmer Acquires C&A

PerkinElmer Inc. of Wellesley, Mass., announced Monday it has acquired UK-based Clinical & Analytical Service Solutions Ltd. (C&A), a scientific equipment asset and managed maintenance company serving the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and health-care markets. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

PerkinElmer said C&A generated revenues of approximately $7.5 million in 2005 and that it will become an integral part of its OneSource laboratory service products.

Robert F. Friel, president of PerkinElmer Life and Analytical Sciences, said, "This strategic acquisition is a logical next step in our continued effort to help scientists keep their focus on their research results while we work on the operational front to maximize productivity, reduce costs and enhance compliance."

PerkinElmer said C&A's managed maintenance experts will complement its technical staff and that OneSource will offer custom managed maintenance solutions C&A's databases of equipment maintenance solutions and performance histories.
