Keithley Instruments Inc., a Cleveland-based maker of test measurement systems, has announced that Ira Goldberg of California Lutheran University (CLU) recently donated an electrical test system to the school that he won as part of a company-sponsored promotion. Goldberg, professor of chemistry and physics at CLU, decided to donate the test system, which includes a total harmonic distortion digital multimeter, an Ethernet-based data acquisition system, another data acquisition system and two switch modules for those data systems, to the university's lab to shorten the time it takes to collect and analyze data for student and faculty research.    . . .    In a groundbreaking ceremony on Nov. 15, Xilinx Inc., a programmable chips supplier and fabless semiconductor company, announced a $40 million investment in a new building with additional manufacturing capacity to expand its Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore. Established in February 2004, Xilinx Asia Pacific is a regional headquarters with 120 employees. To be located in the Changi Business Park, the new 20,000-sq.-m building will be completed in mid-2007 to support the company's growth plans in the Asia Pacific market. According to the company, the new building will quadruple the capacity of its on-site manufacturing facility, triple in-house process development resources and house up to 500 employees.    . . .    Gainesville, Ga.-based gas apparatus equipment maker Harris Calorific Inc. and distributor Airgas Inc. have agreed to jointly market gases and gas control equipment for carbon dioxide lasers used in materials processing. Airgas will exclusively market Harris Calorific laser gas-control equipment and have exclusive use of a new customized Airgas laser gas-configurator developed by Harris Calorific programmed with data on more than 600 different carbon dioxide lasers.
