Kodak said today it has agreed to sell its assets used to produce precision glass molded aspheres, spherical lenses and lens assemblies to Rochester Precision Optics LLC (RPO), a startup company based in Rochester, N.Y. RPO said it will provide precision molded and machined optics to companies who require quick-turn production solutions, and that it will have the capacity to produce all of the catalogue lenses and lens cell assemblies previously made by Kodak. Production is expected to begin by January.    . . .    Photonic Products Group Inc. of Northvale, N.J., announced that its MRC Optics subsidiary was awarded a contract from Lockheed Martin's Electronics and Missiles Control Div. in Orlando, Fla., for their Lot II production of the Arrowhead electro-optical system, the advanced electro-optical fire control system that AH-64 Apache helicopter pilots will use for safe flight in day, night, or bad weather missions. This is the third consecutive award to MRC Optics for Arrowhead since 2002 and covers deliveries through October 2006. The dollar value of the contract was not disclosed.    . . .    Alfalight Inc., a Madison, Wis.-based maker of high-power diode lasers, has named Rajesh Nair as vice president of operations. Prior to joining Alfalight, Nair was executive director of wafer fabrication at Maxim Integrated Products, where he led the manufacturing and module development of mixed-signal devices.    . . .    Optical Metrology Innovations of Cork, Ireland, a manufacturer of photoreflectance spectrometers for front-end silicon metrology and advanced semiconductor packaging, has appointed Robert Eckelmann to its board of directors. Eckelmann worked for Intel from 1988 to 2002, most recently as vice president and general manager of Intel EMEA.    . . . Metallic nanopowders manufacturer QuantumSphere Inc. announced it opened a new manufacturing facility and relocated the firm’s national headquarters to Santa Ana, Calif., from its former location in Costa Mesa, approximately eight miles away. QuantumSphere's nanopowders have applications in aerospace, defense, energy and other markets. The address for QuantumSphere's new manufacturing facility and corporate headquarters is 2905 Tech Center Dr., Santa Ana, CA 92705.
