SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 7, 2012 — Shasta Crystals is relocating its operations from Anderson, Calif., to San Francisco, the company announced this week.

The maker of advanced materials used in laser systems will now occupy a 4000-sq-ft laboratory and office facility at 1750 Cesar Chavez.

“Having a Bay Area location gives us much better access to our customers and engineering talent which is critical to take our company to its next stage of development,” said Shasta CEO Gisele Maxwell.

Shasta Crystals is a crystal growth company making advanced materials that are critical components in laser systems for markets including industrial, medical, scientific, military and consumer electronics. The company was nominated for a Prism Award for photonics innovation by Photonics Media and SPIE in 2009 for its modified laser-heated pedestal growth technique, a process that reduces the steps and increases the speed necessary to grow nonlinear optical crystals, reducing their cost in commercial quantities (See: 2009 Prism Awards finalists named)
