FIS Transmitter and Receiver
Fiber Instrument Sales Inc.Request Info
ORISKANY, N.Y., Aug. 3 -- Fiber Instrument Sales Inc. (FIS), a manufacturer of communication fiber optic equipment, introduces a high-performance line of economical optical transmitters and receivers. These units provide the ability to convert camera video output into an optical signal, then transmit the signal up to 8 kilometers (standard video signals transmitted over coaxial cable degrade into "snow" after approximately 1500 ft), and convert it back to an electronic video signal.
The FIS Transmitter and Receiver allows surveillance cameras to be placed in remote areas 2.5 to 12.4 miles from the control center. Surveillance of these areas might have been prohibitive in the past due to their distance from the control center.
Because the fiber is immune to EMI, issues that interfere with coaxial cable video signals, such as distance from AC power wires and fluorescent lamps, become moot. It offers greater flexibility in the location where the fiber is installed.
Transmitters and receivers are available as standalone units or packaged together in sets. Units use ST fiber connectors on multimode and single mode fiber optic cable.
