CVI Laser LLC has unveiled ASPH molded aspheric lenses that are diffraction-limited, antireflection-coated and available with numerical apertures from 0.30 to 0.55. The company says that the aspheric design reduces spherical aberration and coma in a single element, that optical transmission is higher because fewer optical surfaces are required, and that molded glass aspheres operate over a much broader temperature and humidity range than plastic lenses. The lenses can be used for laser diode collimating and focusing, fiber coupling, bar-code scanning, LCD and LCOS digital projection, optical data storage, microscopic measurement and distance remote sensing.
