About This Webinar
In this webinar, Edmund Optics’ asphere experts will discuss the benefits of using aspheres in optical system design and the factors to take into account during the design process. You will learn how to improve manufacturability, performance, and cost through better asphere design. The presenters will discuss key manufacturability considerations that will significantly reduce asphere lead time and cost if considered early enough in the design process.

After attending this webinar, participants will better understand:
  • Benefits of using aspheres in optical system design
  • Challenges of asphere manufacturing
  • Key factors of manufacturable aspheres

About the presenters:
Amy Frantz, optical engineer, Edmund Optics.Amy Frantz is a design engineer working in Edmund Optics’ Barrington, N.J., office. She has spent the last few years optimizing Edmund Optics’ aspheric lens manufacturing procedures and investigating different metrology techniques. Franz received her B.S. degree in physics and German from Juniata College, and her M.S. degree in optics from the University of Rochester.

Oleg Leonov, asphere business development manager, Edmund Optics.Oleg Leonov, Ph.D., is an asphere business development manager working in Edmund Optics’ Barrington, N.J., office. Before joining Edmund Optics, he was a senior product line manager at Tellabs Oy/Coriant in Espoo, Finland. Leonov holds a doctorate in electrical engineering with a focus on electro-optics from Pennsylvania State University.

Who should attend:
This webinar is for optical and electrical engineers and designers and R&D professionals who are involved in lens design and/or manufacturing for a range of applications, from medical to defense.
