About This Webinar
Dual-comb ranging (DCR) is a powerful optical metrology technique capable of absolute distance measurements at high-precisions and rapid update rates. Unfortunately, data analysis usually requires high-bandwidth digitization of the full optical bandwidth, resulting in large data sets and a complex analysis process. Researchers developed a simplified variation of the technique: two-photon dual-comb LiDAR, which allows data to be collected using time-tagging electronics. The switch from high-bandwidth digitization to time-tagging represents a significant reduction in the data burden associated with DCR. Despite the simplifications made, these demonstrations show comparable measurement precision to the conventional technique.

In this webinar, Hollie Wright, Ph.D., discusses the technique and explains the many advantages it offers compared to conventional DCR. She shares results from various demonstrations including multi-target ranging and target pose sensing and shares as-yet unpublished results from demonstrations with non-cooperative targets. Finally, Wright discusses the outlook for the technique and future work plans.

Who should attend:
Engineers, researchers, and manufacturers working with dual-comb ranging (DCR) or LiDAR. Those who use lasers or laser systems in their fields. Anyone interested in optics, metrology, lasers, and DCR in industries such as defense, automotive, aerospace, energy, or communications.

About the presenter:
Hollie Wright, Ph.D., received a Master of Physics degree in physics from the University of St. Andrews and a Doctor of Engineering postgraduate degree in applied photonics from Heriot-Watt University. For her postgraduate research, she developed dual-comb ranging techniques for industrial applications. She has since remained at Heriot-Watt University as a postdoctoral researcher and has continued development of her metrology technique, two-photon dual-comb LiDAR.
