About This Webinar
The Technology Transfer Program, part of the annual Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, is a chance for researchers to learn about turning their discoveries into marketable products. This webinar offers a taste of the program, with talks from the co-founder of a startup and a licensing manager.

Uta Stadermann is co-founder of StrataTherm, which opened for business this year in Jena, Germany. The startup provides an IR observation system aimed at reducing numbers and suffering of laboratory animals used in biomedicine.

Stadermann, who has a master's degree in business administration from Friedrich Schiller University, will discuss StrataTherm's business idea and give information about its market analysis and financial planning.

Amy Phillips is senior licensing manager for the Tech Transfer program at the University of Arizona. She has a bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics and a master's degree in optical sciences, both from the University of Arizona.

Phillips will discuss the technology transfer process from the research and discovery stage for an inventor, all the way through the licensing and product development stage for an adopter of the new technology.

This year's Technology Transfer Program will be held Thursday, June 12, during CLEO 2014 in San Jose, Calif. Our webinar speakers won't be part of that program, but it will feature talks by industry experts and, new this year, a pitch panel where entrepreneurs will present new technology and discuss the next steps to commercialization.
