Optical Fiber Stripper
VytranRequest Info
Vytran LLC has unveiled the SAS-400 optical fiber stripper, which uses hot sulfuric acid to remove the protective coating from a fiber while maintaining the fiber’s intrinsic strength.
The company built it on the concept of its predecessor, the SAS-200, but with an increased emphasis on use in manufacturing. Improvements include greater ease of use and enhanced robustness. The new model features an intuitive graphical user interface and improved operator protection.
The automated system is intended for use in sensing, medical, telecommunications, aerospace and research applications. It can remove a variety of coating types, including acrylate and polyimide. It can strip a fiber section up to 40 mm long and can be used to center strip a fiber, making it useful for fiber Bragg grating manufacture and for metallizing fiber sections.
