Fluosil preforms from Heraeus Covantics are made from high purity fused silica, offering a broad spectral transmission window suitable for applications from the deep UV spectral into the infrared. The preforms can be customized with a variety of different core materials, depending on the wavelength used, and can be applied from single to multiple layers with different refractive index steps. A coating for the core rod with a highly fluorine-doped layer can be added to the preforms. The preforms can be used in minimally invasive surgeries, material processing, spectroscopic applications, and UV bundle applications.
