The WaveMaker™ 4000A, WaveShaper® 1000B, and WaveShaper® 4000B from Coherent are instruments made to test optical networks. The WaveMaker instrument series operates in the C-band, and the two new instruments from the WaveShaper operate in the Super L-band. The WaveMaker is a programmable optical spectrum synthesizer that can generate arbitrary spectral shapes in the C-band with widths of 10 GHz and extinction ratios exceeding 60 dB. It was made for generating comb spectra, combining them with modulated signals from external sources. The WaveShapers are programmable optical filters and processors, respectively. Both products generate arbitrary filter shapes in attenuation and phase over the Super L-band from 1572.97 to 1627.10 nm.
