Inserting a variable ND transmission filter at the aperture stop will modify the diffraction pattern of a lens. The reduced transmission at the center of the aperture will favor performances at high frequencies, while reducing transmission at the edge will favor low-frequency performance.
Apodizing filters are used to eliminate intensity variations in optical systems such as in spectrometers.
Inserting a Linear Apodizing filter in front of a detector can be used as a soft slit to reduce diffraction patterns, eliminate detector saturation, & obtain a uniform light intensity to the detector.
Customizable density gradient filters that have constant density in one direction and variable neutral density filter in the other direction.
Two Types:
Dark Center: From a dark center to the outside edge, where it can become completely transparent.
Clear Center: Filter function increases in density linearly from a clear center to darker outside edge.
