New Technique for Mirrorless Lasers, Quantum-Ready Cyber Security

In the latest installment of Photonics Spectra Now, Coherent is selling its product division responsible for making and selling materials processing tools to Bystronic. Lidar developer Luminar has entered forbearance and is facing some tough decisions as it grapples with an SEC investigation. GlobalFoundries is announcing plans to invest $1.2 billion to expand its facility in Dresden. Optica is announcing the addition of four members to its board of directors. NVIDIA is bridging classical and quantum computing through its new high-speed interconnect. CyberRidge, specializing in photonic encryption technology, has raised $26 million. Leonardo DRS Announces Board and CEO Transitions

Leonardo DRS's chairman and CEO, William Lynn, will retire after 14 years leading the company. John Baylouny was named president and CEO, as well as a member of the board. Additionally, Frances Townsend was elected board chair. All changes are effective Jan. 1. Baylouny has served for more than 35 years at Leonardo DRS, currently as COO, a position he has held since 2018.  Read Article
