Perovskite Nanowires Yield Efficient, Tunable Lasers
Perovskite Nanowires Yield Efficient, Tunable Lasers A “freshman-chemistry-level” technique for growing nanowires produces tunable lasers that are nearly 100 percent efficient. With low lasing thresholds and Q factors around 3600, these single-crystal lead halide perovskite nanowires could be suitable for miniature optoelectronic devices.

VA Researching LED Treatments to Battle Gulf War Illness
VA Researching LED Treatments to Battle Gulf War Illness MRI scans indicate that LED therapy increases blood flow in the brain. It also appears to have an effect on damaged brain cells — specifically on mitochondria — which output energy in the form of the chemical ATP. This could lead to clearer and sharper thinking, researchers said.

Ophir - Spiricon LLC, Photonics - Modifying Laser Beams: No Way Around It, So Here’s How Modifying Laser Beams: No Way Around It, So Here’s How
Ophir - Spiricon LLC, Photonics

To apply a laser to an industrial process, medical therapy, or communications technology, it is usually necessary to modify the laser beam to achieve the desired results. Beam measurement tools make this possible. We will discuss how to match an appropriate laser beam profiling technique to a laser application, including building an aligned optical system, collimation and focusing, high power laser quality measurements, and proper attenuation techniques for making accurate laser measurements.
