Join us for a Webinar on Thursday, April 30
The Technology Transfer Program, part of the annual Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, is a chance for researchers to learn about turning their discoveries into marketable products. This webinar offers a taste of the program, with talks from two veterans of the process.

Successful transition of technology to commercial product requires much more than a signed document, says Chris Wood, chief technology officer at KMLabs Inc. in Boulder, Colo. His company, which licenses technology from the University of Colorado, Cornell University, the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Michigan, leverages research partnerships, co-developments and the Small Business Innovative Research/Small Business Technology Transfer program. In his talk, Wood will highlight two examples: ultrafast fiber lasers and ultrafast cryogenic amplification.

Meanwhile, the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Innovative Technology Partnerships Office (ITPO) helps leverage NASA developed technologies to form mutually beneficial technology transfer activities such as technology licenses and partnerships with both public and private sectors. Enidia Santiago-Arce, the facility’s technology transfer manager, will discuss ITPO’s three core programs: technology transfer, including the licensing process; partnerships management; and the SBIR/STTR program. She will also explore the different business models that could be used to collaborate with NASA.

This year's Technology Transfer Program will be held Thursday, May 14, during CLEO 2015 in San Jose, Calif. Our webinar speakers won't be part of that program, but it will feature talks by industry experts and a pitch panel where entrepreneurs will present new technology and discuss the next steps to commercialization.
