mode 1 (and mode 2)

In compact disc systems, the two principal frame formats for data storage. Mode 1 devotes 2048 bytes to user data, reserving 288 bytes for error detection and correction over and above the CIRC error-correction code of the CD audio standard. Mode 2 makes the total data area of 2336 bytes available for user data and is used in the CD/I standard.
