low-coherence interference microscope

An interference microscope that uses a light beam originating from a low-coherence light source. The sample is placed in one interferometer arm, and the other arm provides a reference beam. The reflections from the sample are combined with the reflection from the reference mirror to produce an interference pattern. Interference takes place only from the section of the sample located within the coherence length relative to the reference beam.
