Kell factor

In an interlaced scanning electro-optical system such as television, the system resolution will be less than the number of active scan lines because of the random phase nature of the object being imaged. A factor of 70 percent for standard TV was found to be applicable in studies conducted by R.D. Kell et al in 1934.
