Håkan Karlsson, Ph.D., leads the photonics division at HÜBNER Group and serves as CEO of Cobolt AB. Holding a doctorate from KTH Stockholm, he co-founded Cobolt AB in 2000, pioneering the commercialization of diode-pumped lasers utilizing periodically poled nonlinear optical materials. Under his guidance, Cobolt AB transitioned from a startup backed by venture capital to a rapidly expanding, profitable laser manufacturer. Renowned for its proprietary manufacturing process, Cobolt AB is celebrated for delivering dependable and highly durable high-performance lasers. The company's success led to its acquisition by HÜBNER Group in 2015, paving the way for the establishment of HÜBNER Photonics in 2018.
