New Ultra-Wide No Distortion Lens!

Theia MY23F lensThe MY23F 2.3-mm fixed focal length lens is the newest to utilize Theia’s patented Linear Optical Technology® and is available for 1/1.8-in. sensors. When used on a camera with a 1/1.8-in. sensor, the lens has a HFOV of 116° while offering 5-mpx (200 lp/mm) performance. The lens is also optically corrected for visible and NIR wavelengths enabling multi-spectral imaging and analysis.

Machine vision, factory automation, and robotics often operate in dynamic environments. The MY23F lens’ mechanical design and construction are optimized to create an industrial ruggedized lens where the lens elements are fixed in a metal housing, minimizing element shift during vibration and shock. After focus is set and locked, the lens withstands vibration up to 200Hz at 10G and shock under acceleration of 50G.

Theia’s Linear Optical Technology® is used to correct barrel distortion optically by creating a rectilinear lens; straight lines in the object will also be straight in the image. With a rectilinear lens, there is no curving of the image nor compression at the edges so the resolution at the edge of the image will be higher than traditionally designed wide-angle lenses.

Rectilinearity is important when aligning one image to another to create maps and when high speed calculations are required for navigation, as in robotics and autonomous vehicles. For rectilinear lenses, finding the position of an object point on the sensor can be simple because each pixel images an equal distance in a plane.

Ultra-wide, no distortion lenses with patented Linear Optical Technology® can provide an undistorted image immediately – without the latency inherent in software correction. This is critical for applications where precision navigation in real time is demanded, whether it be in autonomous vehicles, in robotics, in automation or in machine assisted medical procedures.
