- SCHOTT Puravis® glass optical fibers offer the advantages of outstanding light transmission and a long lifetime, giving designers the freedom to create lighting solutions for a vast range of applications. Winner of a German Innovation Award, PURAVIS® delivers intense, precise light for medical and industrial applications.
- High-performance windows and lens caps are available in a huge portfolio for fiber optics, sensors, LEDs, and other optical components that require hermetic protection.
- SCHOTT’s microelectronic packages with hermetic glass-to-metal-sealing are custom-designed for individual requirements. They are used in opto-electronic applications and also increasingly in microelectronic mechanical systems (MEMS).
- Fiber Optic Component Packaging: Fiber optic data transmission uses a transmitter (laser) on one side of the line and a receiver (photodiode) on the other. Both components utilize a transistor outline package, which protects them from external influences – primarily humidity. SCHOTT’s hermetic transistor outline (TO) packages provide reliable encapsulation and protect sensitive semiconductor components from adverse effects. Since the package is based on a TO footprint, it is also reduced in size compared to the conventional box packages.
- Laser Diode Packaging: As a one-shop supplier for laser diodes packaging materials, SCHOTT offers TO headers, as well as high precision TO caps. TO headers provide a mechanical basis for the installation of laser diodes and simultaneously deliver power to the encapsulated components with the aid of feedthrough pins. The high precision caps reliably and permanently protect the laser diodes in transmission and receiving functions. These hermetic windows and lens caps also enable the transmission of optical signals by acting as an optical interface.
- For the latest laser-based illumination applications, SCHOTT offers protective caps and cool header for blue laser diodes. The TEC cool header features a thermoelectric cooler that allows for controlled heat dissipation, which leads to regulated and stable laser wavelengths.
- Solidur® LED delivers unparalleled reliability in conditions previously unsupported by conventional LEDs. This includes safety-critical medical, dental, UVB/UVC, and other harsh-environment applications. Solidur® LEDs are offered in four fully customizable base designs: Solidur® Mini LED, Ring LED, TO LED and SMD LED variants can be adapted to suit different application needs.
