How to Design a Detector Noise Limited Instrument with PbSe Detectors

Author: Larry Johnson and Susan Wells, Laser Components Wednesday, February 7, 2018
Pyrometers, NDIR gas analyzers, and flame monitoring systems, often make use of MWIR photoconductive PbSe detectors. Particularly, when high sensitivity and quick response time at an affordable cost are required. In order to achieve the optimal performance for a particular application, it is important to understand how these detectors operate. Not only the bias voltage plays a role, but also the optical chopping frequency. We have many experience in helping instrument designers develop the right set of specifications.
