Researchers demonstrated a self-detecting mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy system using injection-locked Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). By integrating detection within the laser chip, they eliminated bulky external photodetectors, reducing system size and sensitivity to vibration. Using RF injection locking, the system achieved stable, broad spectral coverage with narrow linewidths, proving viable for portable molecular sensing and spectroscopy applications.
