Oct 2025ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 14, 2025 — SPIE Optifab 2025, North America’s largest optical manufacturing conference and exhibition, will be held Oct. 20-23 at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, N.Y. The biennial event is organized jointly by SPIE and APOMA (American Precision Optics Manufacturers Association).

The conference, with co-chairs Jessica DeGroote Nelson of Edmund Optics and Blair Unger of Gentex, will focus on the latest in optical fabrication technologies and will feature expert-led presentations. Attendees will also be able to attend a multiday industry exhibition and courses.
Optifab’s 2025 Tuesday, Oct. 21, plenary is titled “Infrared Optical Materials: Supply Chain in 2025.” The event co-chairs will deliver the session, and additional event speakers include Dave Shelton of Americom.
The event’s 15 courses target researchers and optical manufacturing professionals. Highlights include a four-hour course taught by Jennifer LeBaron Michels of Redhead Optical titled “Optical Testing Standards You Can’t Afford to Ignore.” Other courses cover topics such as optical components cleaning basics, classical precision optical fabrication technology, and computer-generated holograms for optical testing.
The conference’s optical fabrication exhibition from Oct. 21-23 will showcase more than 150 companies from around the world and offer in-person opportunities to meet and explore companies exhibiting their latest products and innovations. The two 2025 exhibition chairs are Jonathan Sydor of Sydor Optics Inc. and Michael DeMarco of QED Optics. Featured technologies at the exhibition include optical fabrication equipment; optical components, materials, and systems; optomechanical components and devices; laser system components; optical thin-film coatings; optical metrology and testing equipment; and software, adhesives, glass, and consumables. Companies confirmed to attend include Applied Optics, attocube, Corning Incorporated, LaCroix Precision Optics, Teledyne FLIR, and TOPTICA.
Optifab comes on the heels of Monroe Community College securing three philanthropic investments, supporting the nation’s first associate degree program in optical systems technology awarded by a community college. Including an investment, from SPIE in the amount of $150,000, will support naming a newly established SPIE Optical Systems Lab within the planned facility.
SPIE Optifab 2025 runs Oct. 20-23. The exhibition runs Oct. 21-23. Information and registration can be accessed via
