Nd:YVO4 crystals are widely used as laser materials for diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers to yield stable and powerful infrared lasers. Nd:YVO4 has the following features:
▪ Large, stimulated emission cross-section at lasing wavelengths.
▪ Shorter pulse widths at higher repetition rates at 1.064µm and at 1.3µm.
▪ High absorption over a wide pumping wavelength bandwidth.
▪ Low dependency on pumping wavelength.
▪ Natural birefringence which typically makes strain-induced depolarization negligible.
