Prior Scientific Acquires Kinetic Systems

Jan/Feb 2026Cambridge, England-based Prior Scientific, a microscopy and photonics solutions provider, has acquired Kinetic Systems, a Boston-based manufacturer of precision vibration isolation systems and optical tables. The acquisition expands Prior's U.S. operations.
Per the acquisition, which closed earlier this month, Kinetic Systems’ Boston facility and team will continue operating under the Kinetic Systems brand while using Prior Scientific's global resources and market reach. Prior Scientific plans significant investments in Kinetic Systems' Boston facility, it said, including expanded manufacturing capacity, enhanced R&D capabilities, and strengthened sales and marketing operations.
According to Prior, the U.S.-based industries poised to benefit from the acquisition include life sciences research, semiconductor and industrial manufacturing, and aerospace and defense.
