Deep ultraviolet lasers lead to a breakthrough in semiconductor lithography. Researchers at Columbia Engineering are unveiling a 3D photonic-electronic platform that could help overcome the energy and data transfer bottlenecks plaguing AI. NATO is investing more than $27 million in optical internet technology through its innovation fund. Alphabet’s X Development subsidiary has spun out its Taara project as an independent company. Imec and ZEISS are expanding their partnership to advance their NanoIC pilot line. And VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is investing nearly $4 million to open a pilot line for medical devices.
