Color Converting Chips Could Solve a Long-Standing Problem, SPIE adds the AR Alliance
Topping headlines, GlobalFoundries says acquiring Singapore-based Advanced Micro Foundry will expand its technology portfolio and market reach. SPIE is adding the AR Alliance as its newest division, marking a major milestone in the development of augmented reality. Universal Display Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire OLED patents from Merk. IonQ will acquire Skyloom Global, a company specializing in optical communications systems, for space-based quantum networks. Headwall Photonics has named Tim Spang as CEO. The University of California has awarded $8 million in research grants to power work towards fusion energy. And researchers at the Joint Quantum Institute have designed and tested photonic chips that convert one color of light into a rainbow of additional colors.
