Universal Coupler Cuts Cost to Quantum Computers by Hundreds of Millions of Dollars
China is rolling back restrictions on its exports of rare earth materials and critical minerals to the U.S. The U.S. Department of Energy is investing millions to advance the next phase of National Quantum Information Science Research Centers. M Squared Lasers has completed the sale of its assets, with that intellectual property returning to the company’s founder. Wasatch Photonics has been acquired by FOSS Group, a Danish provider of analytical solutions. EMTEK Holdings has acquired Cubert, a developer of snapshot hyperspectral cameras and analysis software. Canadian photonic computing company, Xanadu Quantum Technologies, has announced plans to go public. A newly developed ‘universal coupler’ from Quantum Pulse Ventures could reduce the cost to build a quantum computer by $900 million dollars. And researchers at Columbia University have made a dual-function discovery in integrated photonics.
