WALTHAM, Mass. — Thermo Fisher Scientific completed the acquisition of CorEvitas LLC, a provider of regulatory-grade, real-world evidence for approved medical treatments and therapies, for $912.5 million in cash. CorEvitas will become part of Thermo Fisher’s Laboratory Products and Biopharma Services segment, having been a partner to pharma and biotech customers for more than 20 years. CorEvitas manages 12 registries, including nine autoimmune and inflammatory syndicated registries.

VIENNA — Smart glasses developer Viewpointsystem and micro-optical components manufacturer Printoptix were awarded a grant of €2.5 million ($2.7 million) by the European Innovation Council for their cooperation project called 3DPrintoptixMarket. The project centers on a unique 3D-printing process by Printoptix that aims at enabling the cost-effective and high-quality production of so-called impossible parts, or tiny multicomponent lens systems manufactured in a single piece, using a single printing step. The goal of the cooperation project is to reduce the micro-optics size by a further 50% while maintaining consistent optical quality.

ALBANY, N.Y. — Integrated photonic circuit developer AIM Photonics released a process design kit for the domestic manufacture of electronic interposers. It was developed to help designers create more packaging design options for advanced photonic integrated photonic circuits that can be manufactured and packaged at the institute’s facilities in Albany and Rochester, N.Y. While not a completely new technology, the ability to domestically manufacture electronic interposers is limited primarily to high-volume manufacturers.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Technology platform company Lightwave Logic Inc. expanded its corporate facility in Englewood, Colo., with the completion of new laboratory production facilities, encapsulating 10,000 sq ft. This expands the size of the facility by over 65%, enabling commercial device testing and evaluation, production reliability testing, laser characterization, SEM analysis, and the expansion of the company’s chemical synthesis production line. The facility will support Lightwave Logic’s recently added team members, including organic chemists and photonics, packaging, and reliability engineers who will bring the company’s head count to 33.

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. — Northrop Grumman Corp. delivered a miniaturized high-energy laser source to the U.S. government. The laser is ruggedized for field use, and miniaturizing it allows for rapid placement in tactical situations. The 10-kW-class high-energy laser, known as Phantom, is about 12 ft3 and weighs less than 200 lbs.

DURHAM, N.C. — Wolfspeed has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its radio frequency business to MACOM Technology Solutions Holdings for approximately $75 million in cash and 711,528 shares of MACOM common stock valued at $50 million. MACOM will assume control of Wolfspeed’s 100-mm GaN wafer fabrication facility in Research Triangle Park, N.C., approximately two years following the closing of the transaction to accommodate Wolfspeed’s relocation of certain production equipment. The company expects the transaction to close by the end of the year.

NORTHBROOK, Ill. —  M. Holland Co., an international distributor of thermoplastic resins and ancillary materials,  established a partnership with polymer recycler and distributor Ravago Group. This transaction gives Ravago Group a majority interest in the company and will enable M. Holland to accelerate its growth strategy, providing the company with greater scale and resources. The founding Holland family will retain a significant stake in M. Holland, though no other financial terms of the transaction were disclosed. M. Holland’s existing management team, including Ed Holland, CEO and chairman of the board, and Marc Fern, president and COO, will continue to lead the company.

NEW YORK — Submeter-resolution Earth observation data collector Satellogic Inc. signed a three-year agreement with Quant Data & Analytics, a Saudi provider of data and AI products and enterprise solutions. The agreement leverages Satellogic’s high-resolution satellite imagery to serve and evolve the ever-expanding tech landscape across Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region. Quant’s collaboration with Satellogic will lead to the development of derivative products, transforming and broadening the adoption of data science, AI, and SaaS (software as a service) products for real estate and retail.
