Theon Acquires Kappa Optronics
Theon International, a developer and manufacturer of night vision and thermal imaging systems for defense and security applications, has acquired Kappa Optronics GmbH, a specialist in aviation and land optronics. The acquisition, which carries a value of €75 million ($87.3 million), strengthens Theon’s position in Germany, expands the company’s electro-optics portfolio, and enhances R&D capabilities, Theon said.

Beyond aviation, Kappa Optronics' specially adapted camera solutions are intended for use in the defense, automotive, and switchgear monitoring industries. The company's offerings support harsh environment applications, as well as integration into high-level, safety-critical vision systems.
According to Theon CEO and co-founder Christian Hadjiminas, the Kappa Optronics acquisition is one of several that the company is planning.
