Swave Photonics, a developer of holographic display technology, has raised an additional €6 million ($6.97 million) in funding as part of a follow-on investment to the company's series A round. The funding will support the continued development of Swave's HXR technology and expand the company's commercialization efforts. Swave’s Holographic eXtended Reality (HXR) technology uses diffractive photonics on CMOS chip-based technology to create high-quality 3D images that adapt to the user's surroundings. This technology effectively eliminates the need for a waveguide. The company's DynamicDepth technology allows the images to be processed naturally by the human vision system, bypassing AR's commonly-faced challenges of focal depth and eye-tracking. The funds come from existing investor IAG Capital Partners and new investor Samsung Ventures.
