Photon IP Rebrands as Photon Bridge, Names CEO
Photon IP, a manufacturer of advanced low-power optical chips, has rebranded as Photon Bridge. The company also named Paul Marchal CEO.
The rebrand, the company said, reflects its mission to bridge cutting-edge semiconductor technologies with the demands of a fast scaling optical market. The rebrand follows Photon IP's $4.9 million seed round earlier this year.
Prior to joining Photon Bridge, Marchal was co-founder and CEO of Morrow, a startup commercializing smart glasses based on tunable lens technology. Previously, at imec, he co-developed through-silicon via (TSV) technology and co-introduced via-middle integration, now standard in advanced memory and GPU systems, while also contributing to the early development of imec’s silicon photonics platform.
Photon Bridge’s cantilever waveguide coupling technology combines silicon photonics with active III-V materials to address limitations faced by existing modes of photonic integration in their ability to cater to performance and efficiency requirements for artificial intelligence and data centers.
