MKS Breaks Ground on Thailand Chemical Manufacturing Facility

MKS Technologies has broken ground on its Atotech chemical manufacturing and TechCenter facility in Bangkok. With a total production capacity of 18,500 tons per year, the site represents an investment of more than $40 million. The facility, expected to begin operations in the second half of 2027, supports regional collaboration with Thailand’s growing printed circuit board industry and semiconductor advanced packaging sectors.

The facility will be located on a 11.7-acre plot, spanning approximately 27,000 sq m. The site will house a manufacturing space dedicated to producing chemicals for surface treatments and plating; a TechCenter featuring electronics and general metal finishing plating equipment, along with laser machinery; laboratories for analytics, quality control, and material science; as well as comprehensive technical service capabilities, including maintenance, spare parts, and support for industrial internet-of-things and software solutions tailored to the region’s installed equipment base.

MKS closed on its $4.4 billion acquisition of Atotech, a process chemical technology company, in August 2022 following an acquisition process that spanned over one year. Atotech’s technology supports solutions in semiconductor integrated circuit packaging, surface finishing, and printed circuit boards.
