3-D scanning and inspection firm LMI Technologies has acquired GFMesstechnik GmbH of Berlin, a supplier of 3-D metrology products. The purchase price was not disclosed. LMI said it will absorb GFM’s 30 employees. The acquisition will allow LMI to establish a presence in Germany and expand into new markets such as life sciences and surface metrology, delivering next-generation scanner products suitable for volume and OEM customers. The company said it will integrate GFM designs into its HDI and Gocator product lines. Since 1995 GFM has developed structured-light metrology products, including digital light processing technology for 3-D measurement products. GFM focuses on small volume measurement (as small as 1 mm) with very high accuracy (100 nm), suitable for surface analysis of micro texture or inline inspection of electronic, medical or pharmaceutical parts with microscopic detail. LMI is part of the Augusta Technologie AG group. For more information, visit www.lmi3d.com.
