Kopin Secures $15M to Produce Micro-LED Tech for U.S. Army
WESTBOROUGH, Mass., Sept. 16, 2025 — Kopin Corporation has been awarded $15.4 million Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) from the Office of the Secretary of Defense through the U.S. Army Contracting Command (ACC) to develop full-color micro-LED micro-displays tailored for integrated visual AR systems. The award, under the Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) program, accelerates Kopin’s development of solutions optimized for ground soldier AR applications.
The to-be developed micro-displays will be used in diverse lighting conditions — from intense daylight to low-visibility environments.
The award builds on Kopin’s ongoing Soldier Display Trade Study and Phase 2 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract for an Off-the-Visor (OTV) XR prototype.
