Tellabs and TollBridge Team Up to Help Cable TV Operators Offer New Services
LISLE, Ill., June 14 -- Tellabs and TollBridge Technologies are working together to help cable operators provide integrated voice, data and video services to their customers by using Internet protocol (IP)-based access networks.
Tellabs will combine TollBridge's telephony gateway products with its CABLESPAN product portfolio so cable TV operators can use the public switched telephone network to offer full feature telephone services with digital, high-speed data and video services. This broadband solution connects telephone subscribers to a local central office using a voice-over IP infrastructure that includes Tellabs' embedded multimedia terminal adaptors, the Tellabs CABLESPAN 2700 cable modem termination system (CMTS) and the TollBridge TB300 voice gateway.
"We are expanding our broadband solution to help cable service providers find new ways to generate additional revenue," said Tom Gruenwald, senior vice president of Tellabs' Broadband Access group. "By working with TollBridge, we help cable operators offer new services and protect existing investments through a flexible, next-generation cable system that meets today's and tomorrow's requirements."
