Large Telescope Reaches Japan
The
Technical Museum of Nagasaki in Japan is the new home of a 70-cm telescope manufactured by
Carl Zeiss. The medium-size telescope features an optically corrected two-mirror Ritchey-Chrétien system and a computer-controlled electronic system that permits the observer to select celestial objects from a star atlas using the PC Windows NT operating system, and automatically positions the telescope. There are only two other 70-cm telescopes manufactured by Zeiss -- one in Berlin, Germany, and the second in Oman.
