Corning Inc. announced that it will collaborate with a number of systems houses at Supercomm 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, June 5-7 to highlight state-of-the-art metro DWDM solutions demonstrating Corning MetroCor optical fiber's system compatibility. Collaborating systems houses include: Astral Point Communications Inc., Cisco Systems Inc., ONI Systems Corp. and Sorrento Networks Corporation. The demonstration will be available to attendees during exhibition hours in Corning's booth (#3022).

As part of a comprehensive display of its end-to-end system portfolio, Optisphere Networks Inc., a subsidiary of Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc., will demonstrate its 40 Gb/s long-haul DWDM product at the Supercomm exhibition in Atlanta, June 5-7.

Nortel Networks has appointed Steve Wood as president of Nortel Networks Australia and New Zealand, replacing Reg Bird, who retires on June 30 and will be returning to Canada. Wood has been actively involved in the local and regional IT and telecommunications industry for over a decade, acquiring a wealth of experience in enterprise, carrier and service provider markets as Asia Pacific head of Bay Networks and Alteon WebSystems, both now part of Nortel Networks. Most recently, Wood was responsible for directing Content Networking sales, marketing and support activities for Nortel Networks in the Asia Pacific region.
