Change in Lambda Physik's Management Board -- Jurgen Heukaufer Assumes Top Finance Post

GOTTINGEN, Germany, May 28 - The CFO of Lambda Physik AG, Christoph Syring, is leaving the company as of May 31, 2001. The Supervisory Board has assigned the top finance position to Jurgen Heukaufer (51), who has been with the company as COO since May 1, 2001. Syring is leaving the company by mutual agreement. Lambda Physik manufactures UV lasers for use in industry, medicine and science.
Erosion of the personal relationship of trust between Mr. Syring and the other Management Board members is the reason for his departure; there are absolutely no other reasons relevant to the company, said Lambda Physik.
Heukaufer brings many years of experience in the finance and accounting departments of international enterprises to his new position. He was most recently Group Chief Controller of Spectris AG. Given his capabilities in establishing international distribution structures and in efficient process management, he will also relieve CEO Dirk Basting of operational tasks, as planned.
