Coherent Laser Division introduced the first commercial solid-state 488-nm laser at the CLEO/QELS 2001 in Baltimore on May 8 through May 10. The company's new SAPPHIRE 488-20 is a diode-pumped semiconductor laser that provides 20 mW of output power at 488 nm.
New Wave Research featured the Polaris, a compact, high-performance, pulsed Nd:YAG laser system, and introduced the QuikLaze-50, a compact, pulsed, single- or multiwavelength Nd:YAG laser cutting system designed for microelectronics machining, at CLEO/QELS 2001.
360networks announced the appointment of
Matt Milstead as president of the company's Latin America division. In his new position, Milstead is responsible for all of 360networks' sales, marketing, network development and operations in Latin America. Previously, he was general manager of eastern operations, focused primarily on the business and network development of 360americas.
ZettaCom announced that it has released the ZEST-200 hybrid switching fabric, which is the first hybrid terabit fabric commercially available, and the ZEN-QM200, which is the first commercially available wire-speed OC-192 solution implementing advanced traffic management capabilities. The company exhibited its two new products at Networld+Interop in Las Vegas on May 8 through May 10.
