e.Biscom Selects Siements to Increase the Capacity of its Optical Fiber Networks

RESTON, Va., March 23 -- Siemens Information and Communication Networks Group's subsidiary, Optisphere Networks Inc., has been selected by e.Biscom S.p.A., in Milan, to supply fiber optic transmission systems. e.Biscom is the Italian leader in broadband telecommunications, Internet and media-related services. Siemens will supply e.Biscom with its TransXpress Infinity family of products designed for long distance backbones. FastWeb in Italy and HanseNet in Germany, e.Biscom's broadband telecommunications companies, will deploy the transmission systems. FastWeb services are currently offered in Milan, the surrounding areas, and Genoa, and will be offered this year in Turin, Rome, Naples, Reggio Emilia and Grosseto. HanseNet is a leading service provider in Hamburg.
