Agilent Technologies to Acquire MV Technology

PALO ALTO, Calif., Feb. 7 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. said that its subsidiary, Agilent Technologies Ireland Ltd., has agreed to acquire MV Technology Ltd., a privately held provider of automated optical-inspection (AOI) systems and solutions for the electronics-manufacturing market. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
MVT, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, is a supplier of in-line AOI systems and solutions, with over 350 systems installed worldwide. In addition, the two companies have announced that they will establish a worldwide center for automated optical inspection in Dublin, called the Irish Imaging Operation. It will have global business responsibility for all of Agilent's AOI development, manufacturing, marketing and sales.
The transaction is expected to close in about six weeks, after receipt of regulatory approvals and other closing conditions have been met. After the acquisition is completed, MVT will become an operation within the Imaging Division of Agilent's Manufacturing Test Business Unit, part of Agilent's Automated Test Group.
